At Saffer Plumbing and Electric, we provide a variety of different career opportunities. In the plumbing field, we are constantly seeking all levels of experience from:
1. "Green" Helper (No prior experience)
As a "Green" Helper, you will be given constant training in all aspects of the plumbing trade. This path begins with in-house training in our Training Center and continues in Saffer's inventory department. The time spent in inventory will allow the future tech to gain product knowledge and learn the lingo of the trade. This position requires the employee to gather materials for jobsites and truck restock, deliver materials to field techs and help as needed at the shop or on site. It is expected that this employee will be a fully functioning Plumbing Apprentice within a year of their start date.
2. Plumbing Apprentice (1-3 years)
As a Plumbing Apprentice, you will start with in-house training in our Training Center for 2 weeks. After that, you will head into the field to continue learning the Saffer Way from our various field techs. After showing your proficiency and knowledge in the trade, you will be considered for a Junior Tech position in which you will be responsible for running your own calls.
3. Junior Tech (3-5 years)
As a Junior Tech, you will start with in-house training in our Training Center for 2 weeks. After that, you will head into the field as part of a ride-along program with one of our Field Coordinators for one week. Next, you will be a 2nd man on jobsites with various technicians for one week. At the end of your 1st month of employment, your progress will be reviewed by leadership and the expectation is for you to begin running calls in a work truck.
4. Journeyman Tech (4-7 years)
As a Journeyman Tech, you will start with in-house training in our Training Center for 2 weeks. After that, you will head into the field as part of a ride-along program with one of our Field Coordinators for one week. Next, you will be a 2nd man on jobsites with various technicians for one week. At the end of your 1st month of employment, your progress will be reviewed by leadership and the expectation is for you to begin running calls in a work truck
5. Master Tech (7+ years)
As a Master Tech, you will start with in-house training in our Training Center for 2 weeks. After that, you will head into the field as part of a ride-along program with one of our Field Coordinators for one week. Next, you will be a 2nd man on jobsites with various technicians for one week. At the end of your 1st month of employment, your progress will be reviewed by leadership and the expectation is for you to begin running calls in a work truck.
6. Field Coordinator (10+ years and Master's License)
The Field Coordinator position requires an individual to have their Master's License and at least 10 years in the trade. This is a leadership position that comes with the responsibility of managing a group of technicians. The daily responsibilities include on-site training, job ticket management, time management, in-house training, preparing estimates and performing call backs. Premier customer service skills are necessary to perform this job and leadership qualities are a must.
7. Inventory (Clean Driving Record)
This department has a variety of tasks to perform on a daily basis. A day in inventory may include product training, pulling truck and job site materials, delivering material to jobsites, helping in the retail store, unloading and loading trucks and various other tasks. This can be a career on its own or a transition to the field
